HISTORY

This project was inspired by the many talented and passionate people here in the North Country and radio station in Crested Butte, Colorado called KBUT. Nate Alberts, founder of North Country Community Radio, lived and enjoyed community radio for five years in Colorado before returning to his home state of New Hampshire. To this day, Nate and the NCCR board and volunteers listen to and are inspired by KBUT. The non-profit group North Country Educational Radio was born in February of 2012 and on October 28th of that year, North Country Community began broadcasting their unique and locally produced programs online at northcountrycommunityradio.org. Not long after that NCCR began to expand their community reach by placing a low powered part 15 AM transmitter on the Tannery Marketplace in Littleton and broadcasted on AM 1700 AM before turning to the FM dial. Today North Country Community Radio can be heard online and on WZNC-LP Bethlehem 99.9FM broadcasting from the top of the Colonial Theatre.
