LITTLETON- North Country Community Radio, better known as NCCR, has reached a new level of growth, the way founder Nate Alberts always thought it would when he started the project in 2012. With the help of hardworking volunteers and underwriters, the station has reached the next level of growth often typical of non-profits. Alberts said, “The station has grown so much and I just want to see us reach our full potential. The idea of community radio has always been a passion of mine and I’m looking forward to seeing where we can go and how we can contribute to the community and offer them the things they’re looking for from a radio station like ours.”

When Alberts realized his project was reaching new heights he enlisted the help of Angel Larcom and Corey Callaway. Larcom is now serving as the Marketing Manager and Media Director. Callaway has been named Station Manager and Events Director. Larcom said, “NCCR truly represents the definition of community, and the diversity of the North Country is reflected in the programming this little radio station offers. From conversations about the local economy to punk rock and classical shows, NCCR has something that appeals to everyone.”

Callaway said, “NCCR is realizing its vision which is unifying and connecting our community with thoughtful communication.” The vision for NCCR as stated on their website is “To create a low power FM radio station in the Littleton Area with volunteer local DJ’s, to be commercial-free, and to provide services to unserved or underserved parts of our community. To offer diverse programming and evolve to best serve the unique needs of the North Country. Funded by donation, underwriters, grants, and events.” The mission statement is similar, “Our mission is to unify and enrich the North Country with information, cultural expression, entertainment, and involvement from the community.”

With the expansion, NCCR has rebranded itself and has developed a new management team who is eager to raise the bar on all levels. Using technology for better listenership access led Larcom to develop a smartphone app that will be launched on April 7. This app will allow anyone, anywhere to listen to the over 50 weekly hours of original programming NCCR now offers.

There have been several physical improvements to the radio station itself, with a production studio and live performance area. A new video series, called ‘AudioFile’ can be seen on YouTube and multiple community access television stations all the way down through New Jersey is another highlight of the expansion.

A greater community outreach through partnerships as well as internship programs has begun to unfold including Littleton High School CTE department, The Boys and Girls Club and Vocational Rehab and Workplace Success.

NCCR now offers more robust programming with new DJ voices, new talk shows, new syndicated programs, more diverse music collections, and more in-studio events. There are also new underwriting and membership opportunities.
